A resident of the Charleston area, Ray has been a guitarist for over 30 years. ( “I started young,” he explains. )  He attended Morris Harvey College/University of Charleston and has a BA in Music Education.  He has taught hundreds of guitar students in the area, and has performed with numerous local bands, most notably as a founding member of Sleeper, one of Charleston’s most popular Top 40/Rock bands during the ‘80s.  He only owns nine or ten guitars at the moment, and lists Larry Carlton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, James Taylor, and Jerry Reed as his favorite guitarists.  Ray plays many different guitars including a Taylor T5 acoustic-electric, a Taylor W10 CE, Dan Electro Hodad and a National "hub cap".
